Overview
Landscape Directory is committed to protecting your privacy. This Policy describes personally identifying information (“PII”) we collect through landscape.directory (the “Site”). If you are not comfortable with this Policy or the Terms, do not provide PII or use the Site. If you visit a site we link to, review that site’s privacy policy before providing information.
Information we collect
You may create an account with email and a password, request a login link by email, or sign in with Google or Meta. If you use Google or Meta, those providers share the account information you authorize (typically name and email).
We may collect Personal Information such as:
- Name, email address, phone number, and business details you submit when you register, claim a listing, edit a listing, or contact us.
- Account preferences and session data needed to keep you signed in.
- Listing content you post (descriptions, photos, hours, website, and similar fields).
- Takedown, claim, and review submissions, including the email and reason you provide.
- Technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and dates of access, used to operate the Site and reduce abuse.
Information you post in public areas of the Site (for example a listing or a review) can be viewed by others. Do not publish contact details you do not want shared. We are not responsible for PII you choose to submit in public areas.
Cookies and analytics
Like many websites, we use cookies so the Site can remember your location preference and keep essential functions working. If you block cookies, some features may not work as designed. See aboutcookies.org for browser controls.
Analytics cookies run only if you accept them on the consent banner. You can reject analytics and still use the directory. Essential cookies (for example saved state/city and sign-in) do not require that consent.
Payments
Paid packages and promotions are processed by Stripe. We do not store full credit card numbers. Stripe’s privacy policy applies to payment data you submit on Checkout or the Customer Portal.
Maps and location
If you search by city or use “current location,” we may send an address or coordinates to Mapbox to geocode or reverse-geocode. We store listing coordinates so maps can display businesses. We do not sell your location history.
How we use information
It is always your choice whether to give us PII. If you do not, we may be unable to create an account, publish a listing, or respond to a request. If you provide PII, we will:
- Not sell or rent it to a third party without permission. We may use your contact information to send service notices and information about the directory unless you opt out of non-essential mail.
- Take commercially reasonable precautions to protect it from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access.
- Use or disclose it only as needed to provide the Services (including claims, billing, and takedown handling); as described in this Policy or with your consent; in aggregate form that does not reasonably identify you; as required by law; to auditors under confidentiality; or to enforce the Terms.
Third parties
We use vendors to operate the Site, including hosting, database and authentication (Supabase), email delivery, maps (Mapbox), error monitoring, and payments (Stripe). They process data on our instructions. The Site may include links or embeds from other businesses. We do not provide your PII to advertisers for their own marketing. Third-party sites have their own policies.
Storage
We may store data on servers provided by third-party hosting vendors. Our operations are primarily in the United States. If you are in the European Union (or another region with data-transfer rules), information you provide will be transferred to the United States. By providing personal information you consent to that storage and use as described here.
Your responsibilities
- Do not share your password or login link with others.
- Sign out on shared devices when you are finished.
- Use ordinary precautions against malware (updated browser and anti-virus software).
Children
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Site, and 18 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (see the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act).
Account and data deletion
You may request deletion of your Landscape Directory account and associated personal data at any time. To do so, use the Contact form and clearly ask for account and data deletion. Include the email address on your account (and, if you signed in with Google or Meta, note which provider you used).
After we verify the request, we will delete or de-identify your account profile and related personal data we control, except where we must retain limited records (for example billing, fraud prevention, or legal obligations). Public listing content you owned may be unlinked from your account or removed as appropriate; directory listings compiled from public sources may remain in the catalog without your personal account attached.
If you connected Meta (Facebook) login, you can also remove the app’s access from your Facebook settings. That disconnects Meta login but does not by itself delete your Landscape Directory account—still send a deletion request via Contact if you want the account removed.
Changes
We may change this Policy to meet legal requirements or business practices. If you have given us an email address, we will try to notify you of material changes to how we use PII.
